As an ITS, Instructional Technology Specialist, we have found password recall is a daily struggle for students and teachers. Waltham Public Schools students are first given a network and now Google Apps account in third grade. Part of our role is to teach students responsible password creation. This has changed over the years from birth date, to students creating their own, to now students use their LASID # (local assigned student id). We are hoping this will work. At the elementary level, I have found that teachers also are having a difficult time remembering passwords of accounts that are not used often. I am constantly resetting passwords for Google accounts for teachers. My latest suggestion is to use the same password for everything (something that was not encouraged for the longest time). My thoughts are if someone wants to access your account to “steal lesson plans” good luck to them. There are only a limited number of accounts that we really need to be very secure, bank accounts, medical records, etc.
Google forms are one of the most powerful tools in the GAFE (Google Apps for Education) suite. It is a great tool for teachers to gauge student understanding. It is very easy to use and the best part is that it makes a spreadsheet of all the answers. If anyone else is using Google Forms please share how you are using it, or if anyone needs help with this please let me know.
